Magazine practical task

Research

1) Use your lesson notes on magazine genres and conventions to view a range of potential magazine covers. Create a shortlist of three potential magazines and embed an example front cover from each one.

2)
Select your chosen magazine to create a new edition for and explain the thinking behind your choice.

Out of the three magazines i have researched, i chose this magazine due to the fact my main idea centres around this image as i will be using a black model applying the themes of red and black to promote fashion within vogue magazine. Furthermore, i also have previously bought quite a few vogue magazines, thus i know how their displayed and the strap lines that are usually utilised in the front cover. Therefore, this will aid me when producing my magazine cover as i will ensure the details.

3) Find three different front covers for your chosen magazine and embed them in your blog post. Analyse the fonts, colours and typical design. What is the language or writing style? How are the cover lines presented? You need to become an expert in the design and construction of this magazine and its branding.

The general neutral colours in this magazine are blue, black, and green promoting a nature scenery. The fonts applied in the masthead and strap lines are typically vogue fonts applied to conform to audience expectations and gratifications. Furthermore the font in the strap lines are very classy and grow larger in size when highlighting a specific aspect or significance, for example, Beyonce is written in large compared to the rest of the wording to promote and attract the demographic as she is very popular.

Planning

1) Plan your main flash - this is the main cover story that links to your central image.

The main story line to my magazine is the model who is a successful beauty blogger and she exposes all her secrets on what is is like to be in that line of business and her top beauty tips for clear skin.

3) Write the cover lines and any additional text you need for your magazine cover.

" candid Hafsa spills on what it is like to be a beauty blogger "
" 10 ways to make your skin glow naturally "
" + Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to be wedded - everything you need to know! "

4) Sketch out your cover on plain A4 paper using your written planning. Take a photo of your sketch and embed it in your blog post.
