Pengiun Supports BAME Bookshop Campaign With £15,000

Penguin are helping an independent bookshop open a store featuring books focusing on BAME lead characters as in 20117 only 1pc of leads were of BAME origin. This story expresses the importance of having books representing a wide range of people for children to read and to 'better reflect society' as brand and communications director as Penguin Random House has said.

I think this is an example of hard news as it uses the narrative of representations of BAME people in the media still being a huge issue in the community. Personal Identity is the main audience gratifications as parents can reflect that they want their children to read books that reflects them - their personality and values. This does reflect the values and ideologies of the website as it is focusing on issues affecting minorities.
